Where to live
Most student rentals are on and around Main Street, Linden Avenue, Bay Street, Westwood Avenue, Marsh Hawk Drive and Pleasant Street. From most of these streets you can walk to Acadia University and downtown Wolfville in about 10 minutes.
Closer to campus usually means a higher rent. A few minutes further away can save you money – and gives you a quieter street.
Getting around
Wolfville is small and easy to walk. Many students don't need a car. If you do bring one, ask whether parking is included before you sign.
Winter
Nova Scotia winters bring snow and cold. Check which utilities are included – heat matters most in winter. At Concorp properties, we clear the snow, so you don't have to shovel.
Garbage and recycling
Garbage, recycling and compost (the green bin) are sorted separately in Wolfville. All garbage goes in clear bags, and no plastic bags go in the green bin. See our garbage sorting guide for what goes where.
Repairs
If something breaks, report it right away. Concorp offers 24-hour maintenance and repair – residents can use the maintenance page. For a leak, no heat or a flood, contact us immediately.
Your rights as a tenant
Renting in Nova Scotia is covered by the Residential Tenancies Act. A few things everyone should know:
- The security deposit can be no more than half of one month's rent, and it is held in trust.
- You get a written copy of your lease.
- For questions about the rules, the Province of Nova Scotia's Residential Tenancies Program can help.
Being a good neighbour
Wolfville is home to families and long-time residents as well as students. Keep noise down late at night, put garbage out on the right day, and say hello to your neighbours – it makes the year better for everyone.
