Moving to Wolfville: student winter guide

What to know before you move in and how the winter works at a Concorp rental.

Nova Scotia winters bring snow and cold. A little planning makes moving in and getting through winter easier. This guide covers what we do at Concorp properties and what is up to you.

Snow removal

At Concorp properties we do the snow removal, along with lawn care and garbage removal, so you don’t have to shovel.

Parking in winter

Many students don’t need a car, and Wolfville is easy to walk (see walking times to Acadia). If you do bring one, ask whether parking is included before you sign.

The Town of Wolfville has its own winter rules. Between December 1 and March 31 it doesn’t allow parking on the street from 12:01 am to 6:00 am, and also not from one hour after a snowfall starts until two hours after it stops. Vehicles that get in the way of snow removal can be removed at the owner’s expense. Read the Town’s winter parking regulations for the current details.

Utilities: who pays for what

  • Water is included. Concorp pays it.
  • Internet and wifi are arranged and paid by the tenants.
  • Heat and electricity vary by unit. Some units include them and some don’t. Check the listing, and check your lease before you sign.

Heat matters most in winter, so it’s worth knowing before you budget. Rent is per person, so compare listings on our 4-bedroom and 5–6 bedroom pages.

Garbage, recycling and compost

Wolfville sorts garbage, recycling and compost (the green bin) separately. All garbage goes in clear bags, and no plastic bags go in the green bin. See the garbage sorting guide.

If something breaks

Report problems right away. We offer 24-hour maintenance and repair, and current residents can use the maintenance page. For a leak, no heat or a flood, contact us immediately.

Move-in checklist

  • Our 2027–28 leases run May 1, 2027 to April 30, 2028.
  • Read the whole lease. Check the dates and which utilities are included.
  • Arrange your own internet.
  • Take photos of every room on move-in day. It protects your deposit.
  • Get renter’s insurance for your own things.
  • Know how to report repairs and who to call in an emergency.

Common questions

Who clears the snow at Concorp properties?

We do. Snow removal, lawn care and garbage removal are handled by Concorp at our properties, so you don’t need to shovel.

Which utilities do I pay for?

Water is paid by Concorp. Tenants arrange and pay for their own internet and wifi. Heat and electricity vary by unit: some include them and some don’t, so check the listing and your lease.

Can I park a car on the street in winter?

Not overnight. The Town of Wolfville’s winter parking regulations run December 1 to March 31 and don’t allow street parking from 12:01 am to 6:00 am, or during and just after a snowfall. Ask whether parking comes with your unit before you sign.

What if the heat stops working?

Contact us right away. We offer 24-hour maintenance and repair, and current residents can use the maintenance page.
